"Growing God's Family Through Worship and Service"
2012 Theme
As we begin this new year if ministry together, we will work under the theme: :Growing God's family through worship and service!" All of you understand that in order for us to grow we have to be fed. Worship is a time where we gather around God's word, where we kneel at the altar and are fed spiritually by our gracious God. And so, throughout this coming year, ar your pastor I will continue to encourage you to be in worship, to be fed and nouished by the Word and the very body and blood of Jesus that you receive in the Lord's Supper. People sometimes tell me that they can worship God at home. I would agree with that statement! You can! But do you??? Do you read and study the Scripture? So you receive the forgiveness and life that Jesus offers to you in the Lord's Supper? Are you caring for yourself as well spiritually as you do physically? Once again, my encouragement to each of us is to be in worship every Sunday!
The second part of our theme is to "Grow God's family through service." Jesus, Himself, set the tone for us. "I have come not to be served, but to serve..." We grow in our faith as we serve God and others. And so throughout this coming year we will try to help you discover ways that you can serve God with your time, talents and treasures, and we will also strive to help you in your service to others. How can we best serve God as we serve those in need?
It is my prayer that each of us renew our commitment to "Grow as God's family" and that we ask God to guide us and lead us in that journey.
God's peace and blessing in the New Year!
